Sewer Joint And Necessary Conditions For Making Sewer Pipe Joint

Sewer Joint

For the facilities in handling, transporting and placing in position, pipes are manufactured in small lengths of 2 to 6 m. These small pieces of pipes are then joined together after placing in position to make a continuous sewer line. The type of joint is chosen considering the pipe material, internal pressure, external loads, type of support and so many other factors.

Necessary Conditions for Making Sewer Pipe Joint:

For the facilities in handling, transporting and placing in position, pipes are manufactured in small lengths of 2 to 6 in. These small pieces of pipes are then, joined together after placing in position to make a continuous sewer line.

The bell and spigot joint is mostly used for C.I pipes. For steel pipes welded, riveted, flanged or screwed joints may be used.

If the joint support is likely to take settlement, flexible type of joint should be provided.

If joint has to bear shocks and vibration, Victaulic or Dresser coupling joint should be used.
